How Does Collision Repair Work?

Our 7 step process

Step 1: Initial Assessment and Repair Estimate

Collision repair begins with a comprehensive assessment of the vehicle’s damage. An appraiser will examine the vehicle and repair a detailed estimate to repair the damage. This information ensures the vehicle owner and insurance company have a complete understanding of the repairs needed and the associated cost of repairs. We will also take photos of the vehicle to document the damage and start planning the repairs.

Step 2: Insurance Company Coordination and Approval

After the repair estimate is complete, it’s time to coordinate with your insurance company, who will review the necessary repairs and estimated cost and determine what repairs are covered under your insurance policy. This important phase involves negotiating with your insurance company and exchanging information to ensure all of the aspects of your vehicle’s repair are communicated thoroughly and agreed upon.

Step 3: In-Depth Inspection

Our technicians will disassemble the affected areas of the vehicle to uncover hidden damage. This allows us to get a better understanding of the necessary repairs and create a more detailed plan of action.

Step 4: Order Replacement Parts

After comprehensively assessing the damage to the vehicle, our shop will order Original Equipment Manufacturer, or OEM, parts needed. We communicate with our customers throughout every step of the repair process and provide details about your repair, so you know exactly what to expect and what our plan is to restore your vehicle to pre-loss condition.

Step 5: Repair and Restoration

The bulk of the process happens when performing the repairs. Using our tools and techniques, our ASE Certified Technicians will repair the damaged parts of the vehicle. When the repairs are complete, the vehicle is ready for the refinishing phase. This includes sanding, priming, and painting to match the car’s original finish. In addition to aesthetically restoring the vehicle, this step is also important to protect against future damage and corrosion. After painting, the car is reassembled and aligned, and final adjustments are made to ensure the vehicle operates properly.

Step 6: Quality Control and Final Inspection

Before we return the repaired vehicle to the owner, our technicians conduct a series of safety inspections to ensure our high standards of service and skill have been met. We test the car’s structural integrity, mechanics, and examine the overall appearance to ensure we provide the best possible results.

Step 7: Vehicle Cleaning and Customer Walk-Through

We carefully and thoroughly clean the vehicle and conduct a final walk-through with the customer. We will show the completed repairs and confirm the customer’s needs have been met.
